Hanover Township is fortunate to have such a dedicated employee, but there’s much more to Lisa than just a friendly smile.
Since 2000, she has been working for the township and has taken on various responsibilities, including managing deposits, obtaining permits, data entry, and sorting mail. Lisa loves her career, and her coworkers appreciate her positive presence.
Lisa’s home life at Rose House’s Hanover Community Residence is also rewarding. She has her own apartment, located in the same building as her soulmate, Stephen. Together, they made a commitment to express their love for one another. They are often seen dancing together at weddings and community events.
Before joining Rose House in 2011, Lisa could handle many household chores, but her skills have improved significantly, thanks to the attentive staff.
“She’s very comfortable at Rose House and she loves her life there,” said her mother, Pat. “I’m grateful that the staff teaches her what to do in case of emergencies. “Lisa has gotten pretty handy around the apartment, including changing batteries. I’m especially thankful that she’s surrounded by her friends and a caring staff, and that they do fun activities at home and go out together in the community.”
In addition to enjoying her time being independent at Rose House, Lisa is extremely family-oriented and often enjoys spending time with her family.
When Lisa is not working, at home, or with family, she volunteers as an officer in the Kiwanis Morris County Aktion Club with other Rose House residents, including Stephen. She is an enthusiastic bowler and has even bowled a “turkey!” In her earlier years, she was a member of a synchronized ice-skating team with her housemate, Rachel.
Among all her interests, Lisa is best known for her talent in playing the piano. This comes as no surprise, as she hails from a musical family on her father’s side.
Lisa has performed at several special events, including the cocktail hour at Employment Horizons’ annual dinner, Stepping Stones’ graduation ceremonies, and the open mic night at Morris County Library, where her housemate Lisa works. She entertained the library’s guests with her rendition of “Sweet Caroline,” by Neil Diamond. With her sweetheart Stephen playing the guitar nearby, they make great music together, living in harmony with 10 other special residents at their forever home.
