Rose House welcomes Ellen to her new forever home in Budd Lake, NJ

Welcome, Ellen, to Your New Forever Home!

Rose House is delighted to welcome our newest resident, Ellen, to her forever home! She now resides at our Diane Bloom Group Home in Budd Lake, NJ.

Before joining Rose House, Ellen spent an incredible 45 years with Jespy House in South Orange. However, as her condition progressed, she required more personalized care. That’s when she discovered us.

“I like it here already,” Ellen shared with a smile. “The staff and my housemates are very nice. The staff helps me do my laundry, assists with showers, and helps me put my sheets on the bed.” She added that she’s happy to continue receiving guidance from Anne, her DDD support coordinator, as well.

Ellen has a stepmother in Rockaway, NJ, and a brother in Colorado. One of her favorite memories growing up was of her miniature schnauzer named “Bingo.” She also has fond memories of living at Riverview School, a special education program in East Sandwich, MA.

Music is a major source of joy for Ellen. She loves to put on headphones and listen to 1980s songs, especially by Eric Clapton, Madonna, Journey, Genesis, and Lionel Richie. Ellen also enjoys watching detective TV shows like Law and Order, Rizzoli & Isles, CSI: Cyber, and Major Crimes.

Ellen hopes to return to creating ceramic art, a hobby she loved while at a previous group home. Some of her favorite past creations include a cookie jar, a lion, and, of course, a schnauzer dog.

You can help more people like Ellen live happily in their forever home. Rose House is currently fundraising for our capital campaign, the “Forever Home Project,” which will create affordable housing for 12 individuals with special needs in Chester Township, NJ.
